As part of our 60th anniversary celebrations, we are offering a streaming programme that looks behind the scenes at how films are made. These nine films reveal how much effort is required to fill a cinema screen with the full power of illusion: the structures that must be built for tracking shots, vast crowds of extras, a film director (yes, unfortunately usually male) in the eye of the tornado, and finally the arduous precision work of editing. Some films have set themselves the challenge of reflecting and exploding the myth of these fantastical images.
