The Goat’s Intensity
GDR 1988, directed by Jochen Kraußer, 19 min, rated: 0
Kraußer’s film inside a film is a grotesquely ironic satire that turns the multifaceted possibilities of film as a medium on their head. Shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, this short film bemused the public authorities. It tells the story of an amateur filmmaker who films an equally amateur film group specialising in village murder mysteries. After it was premiered, the goat won the ‘Golden Seriousness’ prize for best actress.
