Summer ’04

GER 2006, directed by Stefan Krohmer, 97 min, rated: 12

Summer holidays on the Baltic Sea: Miriam, André, their 15-year-old son Nils and his 12-year-old girlfriend Livia are spending a harmonious vacation on their sailboat and holiday home on the Schlei. Until Livia starts a relationship that is more than platonic with Bill, a 38-year-old American who moves into a house nearby. Miriam wants to protect the young girl but ends up entering into a relationship with Bill herself which leads to an emotional crisis. At its 2006 premiere in Cannes, ‘Summer ’04’ was celebrated for its mixture of lightness, in the style of Eric Rohmer, and the escalating discomfort of Michael Haneke.

Featuring: Martina Gedeck, Robert Seeliger, Peter Davor
