The sound film era has seen a diversity of audio systems used in both production and distribution, from sound-on-disc and sound-on-film technologies to magnetic tape. This talk surveys historical audio systems and formats–as well as general standards of an acceptable sampling that preserves historical media and enables an authentic listening experience.
