GDR 1984, directed by Volker Koepp
Leben in Wittstock is an impressive document about work and life in the GDR and, at the same time, a touching portrait of three women who grow up between confidence and creeping resignation. In the mid-1970s, Volker Koepp had begun to document the construction and commissioning of one of the largest textile companies in the GDR in Wittstock an der Dosse in Brandenburg, focusing on three young female job entrants. For years, he has accompanied the development of the plant and the three workers and brought his observations together in this film.
