Back to the calendarIn 1923, the later founder of the Kinemathek, Gerhard Lamprecht, and the screenwriter Luise Heilborn-Körbitz transferred the 1,000-page novel Buddenbrooks into a 90-minute silent film. Thomas Mann was ambivalent, but the critics were enthusiastic. We willl screen the 35mm version restored in 1999.
