This film is about a southern Italian emigrant in Frankfurt in the 1970s. It was planned as a documentary, but it soon became clear that none of the women wanted to speak out in front of the camera, for fear of betraying their families. That is why Maria tells her story off camera, only in sound, while other southern Italian immigrants depict Maria’s story.
