The current exhibition at the Deutsche Kinemathek, “Frame by Frame – Restoring Films”, pays homage to the work of film restoration and illuminates the work of preserving our collective visual memory. The five segments of the exhibition provide a comprehensive look at the most important aspects of restoration – from finding surviving film, to working with existing material, the digital color correction process, and involving the filmmakers in the process.
