This documentary was the first ever co-production between East Germany and Britain. The aim was to illustrate the situation and attitudes of millions of working people in divergent societies. A look at dockworkers, fishermen and women, soldiers, and families in Newcastle and Warnemünde near Rostock provide insight into life in that era.
