Digital Film Archiving – the CEN Preservation Package

A project team from CEN (European Committee for Standardization) is currently developing a software standard for the digital archiving of films – the CEN Preservation Package. The idea is to bundle existing container formats such as DCP, individual file formats such as DPX for images and WAV for audio, and many other file formats into a uniform package framework. The group leader, Dr Siegfried Fössel, head of the moving pictures department at the Fraunhofer IIS, will talk about the challenges, goals, and overall concept for the new standardised archiving software.
