General information
The Archive
Television programs that have been awarded a Grimme Prize have always been a key focus of the museum’s Television Collection. In 2017, the Deutsche Kinemathek and the Grimme-Institut decided to expand their cooperation that began in 2005. In a joint project funded by the Filmstiftung NRW and supported by German broadcasters, they have filled the gaps in the extant Grimme Archive, resulting in a digital collection that is now complete and includes jury statements written about the awards. The history of the Grimme Prize (founded in 1964), which can be traced through a number of varied aspects, is publicly accessible in the Mediathek (Television Library), where full-length television broadcasts are available for individual screening. Visitors can familiarize themselves with the new collection in the Mediathek’s six-station presentation.
