Betty Balfour stars as Tip Toes, a poor chorus girl who dreams of fame on the music-hall stage. It is a story of a pair of working-class youngsters with big dreams that blurs the boundaries between reverie and reality, tragedy and comedy. Lost for nearly a century, this rediscovery is an opportunity to fall under the spell of Balfour, Britain’s biggest screen star of the 1920s. The film was one of the BFI’s 75 “most wanted” lost films until 2014, when the Eye Filmmuseum in the Netherlands found a print.
