Saturday at 5pm

Sonnabend, 17 Uhr, FRG 1966, directed by Ula Stöckl, 15 min, rated: 6

It’s the weekend at last! This film begins with the following question: “What do teens do on Saturday at 5pm?” Several Munich high school girls are asked. The answer? They eat ice cream at the parlor on Leopoldstraße, stroll along the Isar, go to exhibitions, or on sailing trips. Their ambitious career plans, however, clash with their parents’ conservative ideas. The older generation wants their children to study home economics instead of law. The rebellion of 1968 hasn’t yet taken place.
