Two young friends – Jan (Annie van Ees), known as Boefje, and Pietje (Guus Brox) – grow up in abject poverty in Rotterdam’s working-class district. They dream of leaving for America, and constantly shake up the neighbourhood with petty crime. A pastor takes notice of neglected Böfje. Believing the boy is good at heart, and convinced that circumstances have turned him bad, he tries to set him on the right path.

Featuring: Annie van Ees, Guus Brox, Albert von Dalsum
