The photos in this gallery were taken during National Socialism (1933-1945), when the entire film industry was under state control. The advertisements and swastikas visible on the cinema façades should only be regarded in the context of the national socialist ideology, despotism and criminality.

Ufa-Palast am Zoo, Hardenbergstr. 29a–e (Berlin-Charlottenburg). The premiere of Leni Riefenstahl’s film ‘Olympia’ took place here on April 20, 1938, Adolf Hitler’s birthday. The façade of the Ufa-Palast was redesigned.

Kammerlichtspiele at Haus Vaterland, Köthener Straße 1–5 (Berlin-Tiergarten), 1941. The movie theater was located at the back of the building, where a poster for Karl Ritter’s propaganda film ‘Stukas’ can be seen.
