Over one million photos, slides, negatives and placards that illustrate Germany's film and television culture, from its first feature films to the present

Use of the archive
Our archives are open and free for academic researchers, professional publicity staff and for those conducting private studies, as well as those preparing their own exhibitions. We are open to all parties and try to help you find the easiest and most effective access possible to our archives.
Our collection is distributed between several locations. We request that you register with us in advance so that we can reserve a viewing station or workstation in our reading room.
Prior to your visit, please be sure to review the options for viewing items from the collection as certain individual objects or archives may be restricted or completely unavailable at present for conservation or legal reasons.

Television Archive
- Would you like to find out about the holdings of the Television Archive?
Research the total holdings of around 13,000 programs in our database. If you have any further questions, please contact fernseharchiv [at] deutsche-kinemathek.de (fernseharchiv@deutsche-database kinemathek.de).
- Would you like to view, borrow or copy TV programs from our holdings?
Programs from the Television Archive can only be viewed in the Television Media Library on the 4th Floor of our location on Potsdamer Platz (with a valid ID card for our library, a day ticket or a media library ticket). Loans and copies are not possible.
